Onesie Soup

One singular sensation.

One.  One.  One.

This soup is a simple and healthy soup that can be made by anyone that can count to one and turn the knob on the slow cooker to "low".

Can you?

Ingredients:
-1 cup celery, chopped
-1 zucchini, chopped
-1 onion, chopped
-1 lb chicken tenders
-1 cup mushrooms, chopped
-1 tbsp tomato paste
-1 handful of garlic, minced
-1 splash of Worchestershire sauce
-1 cup chicken broth
-1 cup water

And maybe 1 loaf of bread to eat it with?  That's up to you :)

1.  Put all the ingredients into a slow cooker, in the order of appearance.

I know.  How does this little bit of paste turn the soup into such wonderful succulency?

And a soup wouldn't be soup without my favorite little ingredient :)

Oh and speaking of flavor, Worchestershire sauce in soup makes a world of a difference in terms of depth of flavor.

Make sure to buy low sodium chicken broth...you won't taste the difference, so why not go for the healthier version that won't have your poor cells begging for homeostasis?

I remembered that from AP Bio.

So by now, it should look something like this.  I threw in a little sage because i had some in the fridge left over from when I made that Spinach Sage Sauce over Pasta.

2.  Turn on the slow cooker to "low" and let cook for 7 hours.

That's it!

(i unfortunately ate/served the soup without taking pictures of it first.  that sucks for you and me, but mostly you, because at least i got to eat it)

But i encourage you to try this soup...it's super delicious, and it takes very little prep time!

  3. As an avid slow cooker.. I'm (1) very excited to try this soup, and (2) going to pass along a piece of advise... cleaning a slow cooker can be a pain depending on what you make...I never realized there was a solution to this until about a year ago... Reynolds makes a slow cooker liner... yes, they're AMAZING...you literally just take the bag out when your done and you don't have to clean your crock pot (unless you've sprung a leak)... it's basically a clear bag you just put in your slow cooker before you start adding your ingredients ... you can find them by the sandwich bags and tin foil :)

(p.s. my verification word below is diaper... LOL.. just thought I'd share)

Hey Linz! Yeah, i heard about those! I haven't cooked anything really sticky/messy yet, so i haven't used them, but maybe the next time i do chili, i will have to get those liners. thanks for the reminder!!
