Some of my favorite recipes are made in a slow cooker. It's a relatively new cooking appliance for me, as I didn't grow up with one in our Korean kitchen. However, as a busy grad student, I'm learning to take advantage of this wonderful piece of cookware more and more. It's like having a trophy husband or man-servant cook for you all day long. Without all the baggage.
That's why I decided to give away this slow cooker by Hamilton Beach as the giveaway this weekend!
It's a Stay or Go 6-quart slow cooker. I love it because unlike most slow cookers, this one clamps shut. For those of us who take our slow cookers to potlucks by loading it up in the back of the car...you know what a huge advantage it is for it to actually seal shut. I've very nearly had a whole pot of meatballs scattered all over my back seat. But this cooker prevents that from being a possibility.
For a chance to win this slow cooker, see the rules below!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rules:
1. Only 1 entry is allowed per person.
2. Go to the comments section of this post and answer this question:

Good luck!
After a long hard/bad day, I love a wholesome meal, the good and sorta bad together. Recently I had a large salad with plentiful of greens and the whole she-bang and topped it off with fries! (Yes, that's how we do it in Pittsburgh)
ReplyDeleteHusput! It's a Dutch dish consisting of mashed potatoes, carrots, and onions.
ReplyDeleteI actually have several. The first thing that popped into my mind, though, is this: a giant chunk of extra sharp cheddar cheese, white corn tortilla chips, and a Coke, with a crisp Braeburn apple on the side. Depending on time, I may shred the cheese and melt it onto the chips, or I may not. YUM. That wonderful cheese addiction, complete with salt, crunch, sweet, and fizz--the ultimate combo in comfort food.
ReplyDeleteI also really love a good ham and cheese sandwich, piled high, with lots of Miracle Whip.
Oooooh, and a GIANT bowl of my dad's stove-popped popcorn.
And mashed potatoes!
... and ... I think I need to cut myself off now.
:)
Haagen-Daz chocolate chocolate chip ice cream. Hey, it's a food, right?
ReplyDeleteDefinately grilled cheese (made with colby jack cheese slices) and creamy tomato soup ... and then a tall glass of cold milk and oreos for dessert :) Can't be beat!
ReplyDeleteI spelled Definitely wrong.. :(
ReplyDeleteChocolate...always and forever chocolate; any way, shape or form.
ReplyDeleteAfter a long hard day, especially in the winter, I love to have a big bowl of pot roast stew with a side of Yorkshire Pudding. It's even better the days I really get ambicious and serve it up in a bread bow.
ReplyDeleteCampbell's chicken noodle soup or white rice mixed with peas.
ReplyDeleteAnything with peanut butter! Something involving the combo of peanut butter and banana is particularly comforting :).
ReplyDeleteMashed potatoes with peas mixed in, and lots of butter!
ReplyDeleteI always want soup when I am not feeling well or having a bad day. Italian rice soup is always my favorite with a side of meatballs! Just like my grandfather made.

Pasta! of course with a cream sauce.
ReplyDeleteAfter an especially hard or bad day... I just want to go home, relax, and eat a nice greasy pizza! To make it a little healthy, salad on the side. There's something about a tasty slice of pizza that makes everything feel better. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite comfort food meal is homemade macaroni and cheese. I have a few variants I make, but I think my favorite uses panchetta, sauteed onion and garlic with a white cheese sauce using Gruyere, mozzarella and swiss.
ReplyDeleteMine is icecream (I know I'm boring). Preferably any kind with peanut butter. Heath flavored is also good.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo, another giveaway! Personally, I love a good bowl of noodle soup with some tofu and veggies :)
ReplyDeleteSome good Mac and Cheese!
ReplyDeleteI grew up near Dubuque, Iowa, and the classic comfort/family gathering food is a turkey dressing sandwich.
ReplyDeleteI keep some in the freezer for nasty days.
Comfort food = Rice+soysauce+sesame

ultimate comfort food, either mashed potatoes or scrambled eggs. Either one, you can tart up to make something fantastic or you can just down them plain when nothing else in life is going your way, just having this one constant is reassuring.
