Garlic Lime Tuna

Fish seems to intimidate a lot of people, but honestly it's one of the easiest things you can make.  Through the power of the broiler (or oven set really high), you can make a slab of moist, tender, flavorful fish in about the time it takes to make pasta.  Here's a yummy, cost-efficient dressing that I use to smother fish in before setting it to cook.

Ingredients (2 servings):
2 tuna steaks (about 3 oz each)
2 cloves garlic
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp dill weed
2 tbsp olive oil
juice of 1 lime

This is the fish I got.  I know frozen fish isn't as wonderful as fresh fish from the market, but when you're living in the middle of a big city in the midwest, you gotta go with what you got.  Trader Joe's offers really good cuts of fish for a good price.

Defrost the fish, then lay the steaks on a baking tray lined with foil.  Use a tray that has a bit of a lip so the dressing doesn't go everywhere.

Now, here are the major ingredients I'll need for the dressing.  From top to bottom, we have cumin, lime juice, and garlic.  My garlic was tiny so I used three cloves, but you might go with 2 medium cloves or one honkin' big one.  Up to you and your garlic preferences.

You also need a little dill.  Dill + citrus + fish is awesome.  Throw everything together in a food processor or blender, and grind it up!

Now, you pour the dressing over the yummy tuna steaks.

Smells so good already.

Now the other one.

There we go!  It's okay if the dressing drizzles over the side.

Great!  Now just put the tray in a preheated broiler or oven set to 450F.  Bake for 10-12 minutes or broil for 6-8 minutes.  If you are like me and like a little bit of pink in the middle, take it out sooner.  If you're like my husband and needs every inch of it cooked, leave it for a little longer.  This is based on personal taste.

Once you're done, it should look like this!

Yum!

Tuna is so delicious and flaky and...well...meaty.  Really.  It's so proteiny and filling.

Don't be around to experiment with fish, the other other white meat :)  Try this dressing on cod, haddock, or swordfish.  Enjoy!
